Trunk Shows
For almost 10 years now, the staff at Rug and Relic has been traveling throughout the US, doing what we like to call “trunk shows.” Simply explained, that means we arrive at our destination, whether a country club, a retail store, or someone’s home, and spend a day or so explaining the artistry of rug making, the origins of our rugs, and offering those goods for approval and sale. We then remain in the area for a few days, so those who are interested in an item have adequate time to take that item home and contemplate their purchase. Our goods are not simply home furnishings. They are works of art, to be relished and treasured. We will not rush you in your decision.
A trunk show can be a great event for a club, civic group, or even for another retail business, too. Our staff is prepared to present a formal presentation about handmade rugs at a moment's notice. We call this presentation, "Know your Faux!" It is a participatory lecture of sorts, complete with on-site demos and a Powerpoint slide show. It is designed to educate our audiences on the basics of how to tell a hand-crafted treasure from a faux-quality reproduction. Do we offer our wares at these events, too? Of course. But you may rest assured: we are rug advocates first, and sales people second. No high-pressure sales tactics, ever!
