Gwar
Steve Bormes, the creator of Steve B Lighting, in his own words:
As an outsider artist, I try not to implement too many rules for myself. For me, my work holds no answers or secrets. Made with a high degree of whimsy and love, my goal is to elicit the simplest of pleasures - a smile.
My art is shaped by three muses: Dr. Seuss, for his imagination, Fred Flintstone for his tools, and George Jetson for his technology. It is also guided by a childhood filled with the sort of guys who could fix anything – and create anything – from what they had in their garage. When my 5 brothers and I wanted a go-cart, we went to the garage and built one…and it worked! When we got tired of shoveling snow, we tried to invent a “sidewalk sweeper” by strapping broom heads to the mower blades. (the laws of physics were against us on that one). Regardless of results, creative thinking was encouraged in our home.
"Gwar" is sort of a hybrid amongst my pieces. I was inspired to create it when I found a whole pile of lightning rods in an old barn in western South Dakota.
*Please note: The color you see in each light comes from a colored bulb,
which come in a variety of hues; red, orange, yellow, green, blue and
black.
