The term "sofreh" literally means "picnic" and refers to the small rugs used by nomadic and rural people to provide a small ground cover when eating a meal outside.  With their small size, sofreh can be folded and packed inside a saddlebag or backpack, and taken with one to the fields to work.  For our modern homes, these colorful small kilims provide a durable and functional pop of color for entryways, bathrooms, and closets, and are also just spectacular when hung as art.  Their light weight makes them very easy to hang, even with decorative tacks. 

Please note: we highly recommend purchasing Rug & Relic padding to hold your kilim in place. While quite durable, flat weaves are also prone to sliding, especially on hardwood floors or tile.
